The Standards Committee control the complaints process with the aim of maintaining high ethical standards amongst the Members of the Council. Our Borough and Parish councillors uphold these standards using the guidelines offered in our Code of Conduct.
The role of the Standards Committee is to assess complaints of breaches of the relevant Code of Conduct and in the event of any breach, to decide upon an appropriate course of action or sanction.
All allegations of member misconduct are taken extremely seriously and the Committee seeks to ensure the highest standards of conduct at all times. The initial assessment process determines whether the complaint appears to show that there has been a breach of the relevant Code of Conduct, and then:
