Council Solicitor - Helen Barrington

The Council Solicitor and Monitoring Officer is Helen Barrington. She took up this position in July 2011 having been the Senior Solicitor since April 2007. Prior to joining Gedling, Helen worked as a Solicitor at Derby City Council and before that worked for Bassetlaw District Council where she started as a Trainee Solicitor.

As Solicitor to the Council, Helen heads up the Legal Section and is responsible for the provision of high quality legal advice to officers and Members.

Helen is also the Council’s Monitoring Officer, which is a statutory role with the specific duty to ensure high standards of probity and legality in respect of the Council's business.

Away from work, Helen is married with two sons.
