Gedling Borough Council purchased Arnold Market as part of plans to revitalise the town centre. After securing funding and reaching an agreement, permission was given for the council to operate the market and the site was officially in our ownership.
April - July 2019
New temporary stalls were installed to make an immediate improvement to the market in the short term and new introductory offers and reduced trader fees have been introduced. A number of events were held at the market to celebrate the new improvements.
November 2019
A new Town Centre Project Manager was appointed to oversee and manage the regeneration of town centres in the borough, working closely on the Arnold Market project.
The Arnold Christmas Market was held in the town centre and extended to the market for the first time. The area was used for a fun fair and a host of new traders were there over the three days.
January 2020
Early next year, designs for the new market place will be prepared and shared for consultation and feedback.
April 2020
A planning application will be submitted and if approved, work will commence on the site in summer.
Summer 2020
Once we have secured the funding work will begin on the construction of the new market place
Spring 2021
The new market place will be completed and open for business
