You can pre-purchase a grave space at our Carlton and Gedling cemeteries.
All our new, full-sized graves are dug for three coffins, two American-style caskets or eight caskets of ashes, although these are not guaranteed due to ground conditions.
You may also purchase a second grave space at the time of burial and we will make every effort to try and locate a grave near a loved one.
You can purchase the exclusive Rights of Burial to a grave space for a period of 50 years, meaning that no burial can take place without your consent.
It may also be possible to renew your rights at the end of this period, although if you do not wish to retain these rights then the grave will revert back to the ownership of the council.
Anyone wanting a non private, common grave will hold no rights to the plot and it is possible that other interments will take place in this space. Monuments are not permitted on non-private grave spaces, although permission may be granted for a small vase or plaque.
