Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

The introduction of public Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) has been a successful component in the 'tool kit' to fight crime and disorder.  It has been proved effective in both reducing and detecting crime and because of this people now feel safer when they are out and about.

The Home Office states

CCTV surveillance is particularly valuable when used as part of a wider crime reduction strategy, thus strengthening partnership with the local police and other enforcement agencies

Our CCTV comprises a strategically placed camera network relaying pictures back to a central control.  Our communication network has telephone and radio links in place with the police, retailers and pubs/clubs.

Public Safety

We take public safety seriously and proactively involve ourselves in providing excellent services. These include:

Code of Practice

We have a code of practice which was agreed with the Nottinghamshire constabulary and ourselves. The code of practice outlines the objectives of the system, what it will do, as well as the way in which it will do it.

Data Protection

We are committed to the belief that everyone has the right to respect for his or her private and family life. Although the use of public CCTV cameras has become widely accepted in the UK as an effective security tool, those people who do express concern tend to do so over the handling of the data which the system gathers.

We receive requests from the police, public and other agencies to view the data that we have. After considerable research and consultation we have adopted a nationally recommended standard relating to the handling and exchanging of information.
