Persons suffering from suspected food poisoning should visit their GP who will be able to diagnose the condition and arrange for a faecal specimen to be submitted for tests. Cases of food poisoning are reported to the Health Protection Agency who liaise with local authorities over cases and particulalrly in connection with larger outbreaks with links to events or commercial food premises.
