The National Key Scheme, sometimes known as the RADAR Scheme, was developed because some public toilets designed for disabled people had to be locked to prevent damage and misuse. This has been countered by their being locked separately from other toilets. The NKS aims to provide disabled key holders with independent access to the toilets provided for them and increase the likelihood of the facilities being in a useable state.
You can get a RADAR key if: -
You will need to provide proof of your eligibility to receive a RADAR key, by showing us that you receive any of the above. For example, a letter from DLA or proof that you are in receipt of Attendance Allowance.
Keys are available from Gedling 1Stop reception. If you live within the Gedling Borough area there will be no charge for the first key issued. Non-residents of the Borough can purchase a key for £4. Alternative keys are available from local voluntary groups and the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation, 12 City Forum, 250 City Road, London, EC1V 8AF.
