To mark 60 years of the Queen's reign, the Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012. Celebrations will centre on an extended weekend between Saturday 2nd and Tuesday 5th June.
Our flasgship Jubilee event takes place in Arnot Hill Park, Arnold on Sunday 3 June between 1 and 4pm.
This family event to mark the Queens Diamond Jubilee is FREE, and we're encouraging families to bring along a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of family fun.
We’re planning a 1950’s band and dancing, traditional school sports day races for children and adults along with the awarding of medals from the Mayor of Gedling and jubilee celebration arts and crafts including a crown making competition with a prize awarded by the Mayor of Gedling for the best dressed crown.
Thousands of beacons will be lit around the world on the 4 June 2012 to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen's 60 year reign over the UK and as head of the Commonwealth.
Several Parish Councils and Community Groups are hosting a special Family Fun Event culminating in a bonfire and/or firework display to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
All bonfires will be entered into a commemorative book which will be presented to the Queen and a photograph will be taken from space and a series of special aircraft around the country to show the bonfires and beacons in full flame at 10.00pm.
If you are planning on organising a street party, you will need to notify Nottinghamshire County Council so that any necessary road closures can be put into place.
If your community or organisation would like to be involved in hosting a Jubilee family fun day/bonfire event or Street party, an events hosting pack can be downloaded from the useful links section on the right which will include all relevant contact details. There's also some Frequently asked Question and Answer.
