Councillors & Meetings
Gedling Borough Council has 50 elected councillors covering 21 wards. The borough covers an area that has two MPs and five MEPs.
The Democratic department is one of our core services, providing support to our officers and members in delivery our services to the public. Minutes and agendas for all meetings are all produced internally and can be found on these pages.
How are Decisions Made?
In order to make our decision making process quicker and more transparent, we currently adopt a 'Leader and Cabinet' model which follows the structure below:
- Full Council
- Cabinet exercising executive functions
- Committees exercising non-executive functions
- Scrutiny Committees
- Standards Committee
Want to Get Involved?
The Scrutiny process provides opportunities for Councillors who are not members of our Cabinet to:
- Examine the various functions of the Council
- To ask questions about how decisions are made
- To consider whether service improvements can be put in place and make recommendations
Scrutiny also provides the opportunity for Councillors to voice your concerns and participate in the development of new policy.
