Change of Circumstances
When a claim for Housing and or Council Tax Benefit is made, you will sign a declaration saying you will tell us straight away about any change in your circumstances which might affect your entitlement and claim.
Failure to advise us of any changes to your circumstances may result in the following:
- Overpayments of benefit - this will need to be paid back
- You can be prosecuted if you if you do not tell us
- Benefit may be lost if you do not tell us within one month of the change
You can inform us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using our online forms. Please select the form you require.
If you are moving in, our or around the borough you need to inform the council to ensure you are no longer charged for council tax on a property that you not longer live in.
You must notify us in writing immediately of any change of circumstances that may affect the amount of benefit you receive. You must also notify us of any change in circumstance that affects you and your partner, as well as any dependent children or non-dependants living with you.
