Live in Carers & Workers

Elderly & Carers The carer must be resident and provide care for at least 35 hours per week, if an employed carer then they cannot earn more than £44.00 per week and must work at least 24 hours per week. The person receiving the care must be in receipt of (or entitled to) one of the following state benefits:

Higher rate of attendance allowance.
High rate care component of disability living allowance.
Increase in constant attendance allowance under the industrial injuries or war pension schemes.
Highest rate of constant attendance allowance payable on top of the full-rate disablement benefit paid in respect of an industrial injury.

A person cannot be disregarded as a carer if they are the partner, spouse or civil partner of the person in receipt of care.

A person cannot be disregarded as a carer if they are the parent of the person in receipt of care and that person is under the age of 18 years.
