School & College Leavers

A person is disregarded for Council Tax if s/he is

• Under the age of 20; and
• has left school or college on or after 1st May after finishing a full time course

The disregard would cover the period between 1st May & 31st October in any year. This means the person would disregarded until 1st November.

If the school or college leaver continues onto futher or higher education then they will need to apply for a full time student exemption
