The Disabled Facility Grant helps with the cost of adapting a home for the needs of a disabled person.

Eligibility for this grant is based on your financial circumstances, with Nottinghamshire County Council’s Social Services Department deciding what works are necessary and appropriate to the individual's needs.

The decision is based on an assessment made by a County Council Occupational Therapist before our Private Sector Housing team administers the grant finance.

The Council in certain circumstances are able to offer disabled clients a Housing Assistance grant where certain works are required to enable completion of a Disabled Facilities Grant but are not eligible to be included within a Disabled Facilities Grant - such works include:

Where the adaptation requires an electrical supply, any necessary works by and approved contractor to ensure there is no risk of electrocution or fire;
Security works – i.e. a door entry system for applicants with reduced mobility.
