The former Mayor of Gedling, Cllr Suzanne Prew-Smith, will present a local cancer care charity with a cheque for more than £15,000 at a special evening reception at the Civic Centre on Tuesday 27 July.

During Cllr Prew-Smith’s year in office she raised money for Nottinghamshire Leukaemia Appeal Supporting Myeloma, through a series of successful fundraising activities. Some of the events included the Festival of Remembrance Concert, a Golf Day, and two Charity Fashion Shows. The Christmas Motorbike Toy Run and Christmas cookery demonstration, jointly organised with New College Nottingham and the Lace Market Hotel, were also highlights in the year.

Frank Key Builders Merchants, based in Daybrook, also donated over £1000 towards the charity.

Professor Russell, will accept the cheque on behalf of the charity. The money will go towards new equipment to benefit patents with Myeloma.

People and organisations that have been involved in events across the year have also been invited to attend the evening reception.
