Fly-Tipping and Fly-Posting

Fly-tipping and fly-posting is a crime but you can help put a stop to it. If you notice someone fly-tipping or fly-posting please contact us as soon as possible on 0115 9013621 or email waste@gedling.gov.uk. We can take calls anonymously but the officer taking your call may ask you if you are prepared to be a witness should the matter be referred to the courts.

If you remove of the waste yourself remember you have a legal responsibility to transfer it to an authorised waste carrier. An unlicensed waste carrier may dump your waste illegally and you will be held responsible and liable to a £5,000 fine or could even face prosecution - visit the Environment Agency website or call 08708 506 506 for more information.

Fly-Tipping

Fly -tipping is the illegal dumping of rubbish. If you witness someone fly-tipping or notice rubbish that has been dumped, please contact us on 0115 901 3621 or by e-mail on waste@gedling.gov.uk. Fly-tipping can:

If you notice someone fly-tipping please do no approach the offender(s) and do not go through any bags or items as it has been known for some bags to contain hypodermic needles, glass and other sharp objects.

When reporting an incident please provide us with as much of the following information as possible:

If we do visit the site we aim to remove rubbish within 4 working days. If you report a hazardous substance such as asbestos or battery acid, we will remove this within 24 working hours.

Fly Posting

Fly-posting is the display of advertising material on buildings and street furniture without the consent of the owner. It is illegal and perpetrators can be fined up to £1,000 per poster.

If you notice someone fly-posting please do not approach them. Please contact us on 0115 901 3621 or waste@gedling.gov.uk so we can remove the posters, and provide us with as much of the following information as possible:
