Street Cleaning

We clean the public roads and paths in the borough on a six-weekly basis. We also clean the main shopping areas, school routes and shop fronts on a weekly and daily basis. If you have any concerns about street cleaning in your area please contact 0115 901 3621 or email waste@gedling.gov.uk.

Litter Bins

Recycle bin and bags

It is against the law to drop litter anywhere in the borough and you could receive a fixed penalty fine of up to £2,500 if you do. If you notice a bin that is overflowing, broken or faulty please contact us at waste@gedling.gov.uk or on 0115 901 3621.

Gritting

Nottinghamshire County Council are responsible for gritting A and B roads and major bus routes when there is a risk of ice or snow. Contact them on 08449 808080 for more information or to request a grit bin if you live in a residential area with unusually steep roads or bends. All trunk roads and motorways are gritted by AM Scott who can be contacted on 01623 676 555. We will grit our car parks and footpaths in Arnot Hill Park and cemeteries. Dog Fouling

We have just over 500 dog bins in the borough. If you notice a broken or faulty bin, or if you have witnessed someone allowing their dog to foul on the streets, please contact the Neighbourhood Wardens by emailing n.wardens@gedling.gov.uk or calling 0115 901 3621. Please provide us with the specific location of the offence and a description of the perpetrator where possible, as this is a criminal offence. Dog fouling outside of a school will be removed as soon as possible.

Needles and Syringes

Unfortunately, on occasions needles and syringes are discarded in public places. If you discover any needles or syringes in any public place please contact us on 0115 901 3621 or email waste@gedling.gov.uk.  Please do not touch, hide or put it in a litter bin. Trained staff will deal with the incidents once it has been reported.

Debris & Spillages

We will deal with any reports of spillages on pavements, car parks or any land we own in the borough. If the spillage is due to a road traffic accident, you will need to contact either the police on 999 in cases of emergency or the Nottinghamshire County Council on 08449 808080. You can also fill in their online form.

Water Leaks

If there is any water or sewage leaks please contact Severn Trent Waters on 0800 783 4444 or complete their online form. We will close any areas where there are reports of raw sewage on our recreation grounds immediately or put up warning signs.
