Street Cleansing

We currently undertake a full cleanse of all roads and paths on a six weekly basis, this includes litter picking and mechancial sweeping.  There are also areas which get cleansed on a weekly or daily basis, such as main shopping areas, school routes and shop fronts.

Litter

Litter is caused by people throwing away rubbish in the wrong place. It includes sweet papers, cigarette ends, unwanted food, and food packaging.

Litter makes the Borough look untidy, and it can be dangerous. It can kill animals and also attract rats and flies. Gedling Borough Council provide litter bins all over the Borough for people to use.

It is against the law to drop litter anywhere in Gedling Borough. People who drop litter could receive a fixed penalty fine of up to £2500.

Please also see Graffiti and also Fly Tipping.
