Weekly summer refuse collections

Refuse Lorry

Weekly summer bin collections have returned to the Borough after last year’s pilot scheme proved popular with local residents.

Please note that some collections have been altered from beginning of June to accommodate this service, if your bin date has changed you should have received a calendar by 1 June to let you know.

Weekly collections of household waste will begin on Monday 23 June for a 12-week period ending on Friday 12 September. Recycling waste in green bins will continue to be collected on a fortnightly basis.

Residents can always keep up to date on recycling and refuse collections in the Borough by visiting our refuse collection pages or by emailing waste@gedling.gov.uk or telephoning 0115 901 3621.

To ensure the Council meets the statutory targets set by Central Government, the amount of household waste collected and disposed of to landfill or at incineration must be reduced further.

Well done Gedling - a recycling rate of  35.69% was achieved in 2006/07 - over 8% more than the previous year.  Thank you for your participation, please continue and help to improve it even further.

Please remember our Refuse Collection Policy.  The Council:-

Please SLIM YOUR BIN – always use the recycling facilities.

It is Council policy that the supplied wheeled bins be issued on the basis of the number of people in a household as in the following table.
