Dog Control

The Council's Dog Warden Service respond to, investigate and resolve complaints and service requests relating to:

Stray dogs

Dog fouling

Enforcing relevant legislation when necessary.

Proactive measures are also taken including promoting responsible dog ownership, and patrols to enforce dog-fouling legislation.

The Council does not operate a dog regisitration scheme.

Dog Fouling

There are over 200 dog fouling bins installed and maintained in the borough. It is an offence for dogs owners to allow their dogs to foul and not clean it away, this applies to the majority of open land in Gedling.

We take this problem very seriously and are very active in serving £50 fixed penalty notices on offenders.

If you see somebody allowing their dog to foul and not clearing away then please contact us on the number or email below so that we can persue enforcement action.

Dangerous Dogs

Dangerous dogs are dealt with under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and are the responsibility of the Police.
