Air Quality Monitoring

Gedling Borough Council monitor's concentrations of both Nitrogen Oxides and Benzene across the district and compares the results against the concentration limit set within the air quality objective for each pollutant. The Council also monitors for Ozone using diffusion tubes.

Nitrogen dioxide is monitored by the use of diffusion tubes located at 16 receptor-based and 4 background locations across Gedling Borough. Gradko International analyse the tubes on behalf of Gedling Borough and provide an average ambient concentration of Nitrogen Dioxide for the period that the tube is located at the monitoring point.

Gedling Borough Council commissioned a brand new air quality monitoring station in January 2001. The air quality station located alongside the A60(T) Mansfield Road, Daybrook Square monitors current real time Nitrogen Dioxide levels.

Benzene is monitored by the use of diffusion tubes located at 2 receptor-based and 2 background locations across Gedling Borough. Scientifics Laboratory analyse the tubes on behalf of Gedling Borough and provide an average ambient concentration of Benzene for the period that the tube is located at the monitoring point.
