Change of Circumstances

You must notify us in writing immediately of any change of circumstances that may affect the amount of benefit you receive. You must also notify us of any change in circumstance that affects you and your partner, as well as any dependent children or non-dependants living with you.

What changes affect my entitlement?

To avoid missing out on benefit, you must notify us within one calendar month of changes to any of the following:

If in doubt, we recommend you notify us of any other changes that may affect your entitlement. Forgetfulness and innocent oversights are no excuse, as even if you are on a low income you will be asked to payback any incorrectly paid benefit.

Who should I tell?

As well as notifying the Benefit section at the Civic Centre, you must also inform staff working at other relevant offices such as the Department for Work and Pensions, Job Centre Plus or other Council departments. (External sites)
