Council Tax

Your council tax and how it works

We collect council tax on behalf of various local authorities, which is then distributed between Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire Authority. (External site) If you live in an area with a Parish, there may also be an element collected on behalf of your local parish council.

For the current financial year, Gedling Borough Council has increased its element by 2.0%. The table below also shows other authorities' element increases for the financial year 2010/11.

The following table is based on charges for Band D properties, which stands at £1,568.40 for the financial year beginning 1 April 2010 (please note any Parish Precept that is applicable is not shown here).

Your property will have been given a valuation band by the Valuation Office Agency, with all subsequent council tax Demand Notices issued in line with this valuation. (External site)
