In 2008 we transferred all of our housing stock to Gedling Homes, which is an independent housing association. Although we do not own any housing any more, we still maintain the Housing Register, and we nominate people to Gedling Homes and to the other housing associations that operate in the Borough. We nominate people in accordance with our Housing Allocation Policy. Anyone over the age of 16 can apply for housing, including existing housing association tenants who wish to move. In autumn 2010, the way we allocate housing will change. Please see our Choice Based Lettings page for more details.
We will not allocate homes on some conditions:
To apply for a property, download and fill in the application form. If you are unable to download the form, contact the Housing Needs Section by calling 0115 9013652/3662. Alternatively you can visit us at the Civic Centre in Arnold. Directions can be found on our Contact Us page
We will assess your housing situation and write to you confirming your application number and advising of the band which your application has been placed in. Unfortunately, it is difficult to tell you how long you may have to wait to be offered a home. This will depend on the priority band you are placed in, but also on when a suitable property becomes available, and we cannot predict this.
If you are homeless, please see the information on our Homelessness page, and contact us for advice.
If you are looking for rented accommodation, try visiting www.firstlets.org.uk. The site allows you to search and apply for properties available for rent from private landlords in Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe.
Landlords can advertise their properties for free, and can access free training and accreditation, as well as getting advice and help to apply for Landlord Grants, Warm Front grants for energy efficiency, and many other sources of assistance.
For more information, please contact First Lets on 0115 914 8511 or firstlets@rushcliffe.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can contact our Housing Needs team directly on 0115 901 3675 or at housingservices@gedling.gov.uk.
The website is a partnership project between Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe Borough Councils, who have worked together using funding secured from the government’s Homelessness Innovation Fund.
We developed a series of service standards with the help of some of our customers from the Tenants Consultation Panel. The service standards are designed to help explain what different services we provide, how we will respond to you, and supply important information you may need.
You can download any of the service standards below
If you do not agree with a decision made by the council, you may be able to ask for a review of the decision. Click here if you would like further information.
