Gedling Borough Council maintains and manages the tenants’ homes, but it does not insure their belongings.

When tenants move into a property, their furniture, belongings and decoration are not protected against theft, fire, vandalism, or burst pipes – so they need to take out their own home contents insurance.

To assist tenants Gedling Borough Council has negotiated Insurance cover currently with Norwich Union benefits of this Scheme includes: -

• Weekly payments – you can pay your insurance premium when you pay your rent.
• Insurance for furniture, TV, clothing, carpets and electrical.
• Goods – most of your household goods and contents are insured when in your home.

Making a claim on your home contents insurance with Gedling Borough Council.

If you need to make a claim on your home contents insurance, please either

• ·Fax 0115 200 747, including details of your name, address, contact details and as much information as possible about the repair. Please also advise on access.

Please remember that your insurance with the Council is invalidated if you fall into rent arrears.
