Warm Front Grant

Warm Front is a Government Grant scheme that gives grants to cover the cost of energy efficiency improvements for certain groups of people receiving income or disability benefits. Grants cover packages of insulation and heating measures that are worth to £2700 for people living in areas connected to the main gas network and up to £4000 for people living in areas with no gas connection.

If you’re receiving an income or disability related benefit, whether you’re young or old, own your own home or rent it, you may qualify to have your home insulated for free. You may also qualify for heating improvements to your home and if you’re over 60, you could even have central heating installed at no cost to you.

The following may be able to claim a grant of up to £2700 under the Warm Front Scheme.

Householders aged over 60 or over and are in receipt of one or more benefits:

• Income Support
• Council Tax Benefit
• Housing Benefit
• Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based)
• Pension Credit

Householders who (a) have a child under 16, or (b) are pregnant and have been given a maternity certificate MAT B1 in relation to the pregnancy and are also in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:

• Income Support
• Council Tax Benefit
• Housing benefit
• Job Seekers Allowance
• Pension Credit

Householders in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:

• Working Tax Credit with income of less than £15050 and which must include a disability element
• Child Tax Credit with an income of less than £15050
• Attendance Allowance
• Disability Living Allowance
• Income Support which must include a disability premium
• Housing Benefit which must include a disability premium
• Council Tax benefit which must include a disability premium
• War Disablement Pension which must include a mobility supplement or Constant Attendance Allowance
• Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit which must include Constant Attendance Allowance

What does the Warm Front Grant provide?

The Grant provides energy-efficiency advice, two energy-efficient light bulbs and a package of insulation and heating improvements which are tailored to each property to the value of £2700, drawn from the measures below:

Insulation improvements

• Loft insulation
• Draughtproofing
• Cavity-wall insulation
• Hot-water-tank insulation

Heating improvements

• Gas, electric or oil central heating
• Repairs to your existing heating system
• Converting a solid-fuel open fire to a glass-fronted fire.

Some homes that need oil central heating may receive a grant of up to £4000.
