Improvement of council properties

The council splits its repairs budget between responsive repairs, for example day-to-day repairs such as blocked drains or problems with the heating in a property, and the planned maintenance, which covers areas such as the installation of double-glazing and upgrading of heating systems. The plans for the improvement programme are listed further down. The Government has introduced the ‘Decent Homes Standard’, which all council properties must reach by 2010; further information on the Decent Homes Standard is contained on the web site.Go to Decent Homes This legislation has significantly impacted on the improvement programme at Gedling, as currently 16% of our properties do not meet this standard.

To ensure that the views of tenants are included in the improvement programme, the priorities have been agreed with the Tenants Consultation Panel.
