The independent consultants hired by the Council announced the results of their survey of tenants needs and expectations of their Council homes.

P S Consultants received 1242 completed surveys - about 35% of all Council households in Gedling – a response above than the national average.

Tenants in Gedling said that their main priorities were:

• Delivering a high quality repairs service (88%)
• Delivering high quality housing management e.g. dealing with anti-social behaviour. (61.8%)
• The Council should seek to ensure the future provision of affordable housing within the borough. (53.8%)
• The ease with which you can access services (36.8%)
• Effective complaints procedure (34.1%)
• Meaningful tenant / resident involvement (15.9%)

Tenants said that the following elements should be present in a modern home:

• Double glazed windows and doors (69.5%)
• Home security including lighting and locks (57.7%)
• New kitchens (40.4%)
• External maintenance and improvements e.g. painting, fencing and parking provision (38.8%)
• New bathroom (34.8%)
• Central Heating (29.8%)
• Insulation (15.4%)

This information will be used to determine the ‘Gedling Tenants Standard’ – the standard that our tenants feel their homes should meet.

A massive 93.3% of people asked to be kept informed by a newsletter.

Steps Taken

To bring Council homes up to the Gedling Tenants Standard the Council has proposed to do stock transfer.

Remember the Council does not know what you want, unless you tell them.
