Housing Strategy

Our Housing Strategy for the borough was adopted in March 2010. It sets out our objectives for housing up to 2014, a period that fits with the life of the Local Investment Plan for Greater Nottingham, which is currently being developed in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency.

The Strategy forms an integral part of our Sustainable Community Strategy and describes how our housing objectives will contribute to the Vision of Gedling in 2026 that we have agreed with local residents and stakeholders.

Our objectives for housing

Our objectives for housing in the borough are:

• Quality – Improving the standard of housing in Gedling
• Neighbourhoods – Building safe and strong communities
• Inclusion – Making sure everyone can access the type of housing they need
• Supply – Managing the supply of homes that Gedling needs for the future

The Housing Strategy does not cover how many new homes should be built in Gedling or where they should be located. This is dealt with by our Local Development Framework.

Homelessness Strategy

The Homelessness Act 2002 requires all local authorities to carry out a review of homelessness and homelessness services in their area.

We carried out this review along with our partners, and after consultation with the public, and it has helped to shape our Homelessness Strategy 2008-2013. You can download the following documents relating to the Homelessness Review and Strategy:
