Code of Conduct

The public is entitled to expect the highest standards of conduct from all employees who work for local government.  This Code outlines existing laws, regulations and conditions of service and provides further guidance to assist Local authorities and their employees in their day-to-day work.

The Code is produced in the light of the challenges that employees face in the new and more commercial orientated environment.  This includes the introduction and extension of compulsory competitive tendering (CCT), market testing, changes in the management of the education and housing services, care in the community, managements buyouts etc.
