New Deal

New Deal is a national government scheme run by Job Centre Plus aimed at providing unemployed people with the support and skills they need to find and retain employment.  Clients on the new Deal programme receive one-to-one support from a New Deal Personal Adviser at their local Jobcentre as well as opportunities to study, train and gain work experience.

Gedling Borough Council has reviewed its employment policies to encourage applicants from a New Deal background.   In addition, specific New Deal Traineeship positions have been established which last for one year during which time, support is given for studying towards an appropriate qualification.  These are advertised via local jobcentres.  In additioan, we have an active partnership arrangement with Nottinghamshire County Council’s ‘Bridge to Work’ Team who help to identify and place suitable candidates.

There are programmes for:-

Young People (18-14 year olds)

25 plus (25 years old and above)
