European Parliamentary elections are held every five years, with the most recent held alongside County Council Elections on 4 June 2009.
Here, Gedling Borough is included in the East Midlands Regional Constituency, which returns five Members of European Parliament (MEPs) from the areas of Derby, Derbyshire, Leicester, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.

County Council elections are held every four years, with the most recent taking place on 4 June 2009. Here, the borough is divided into six County Divisions, which returns 10 councillors to Nottinghamshire County Council.
