Decision Making

The Council is currently organised on a 'Leader and Cabinet' model.

The aim is to make decision-making quicker, more transparent and more accountable. The structure of the Council is as follows:

• Full Council
• Cabinet exercising executive functions
• Committees exercising non-executive functions
• Scrutiny Committees
• Standards Committee

The Cabinet consists of the Leader and six elected members, each taking specific responsibility for certain services. Each member of the Cabinet can make decisions within their area of responsibility in accordance with the delegated authority given to them.
