Based at Arnot Hill House, close to the Civic Centre, its mission statement is:

The Leisure Services Department is keen for people to see the breadth and variety of leisure facilities in the borough. Did you know the team manage the borough’s five leisure centres, seven community centres, 32 parks, open spaces and cemeteries? Officers promote health and fitness, sports development, tourism, twinning and organises arts and events with and for the community.

We recognise the important role that can be played by the provision of sports and leisure activities, improving health and enhancing the quality of life of residents and visitors to the Gedling Borough area.

Making Play Matter in Gedling

In May 2006 a Play Visioning event was held in Gedling and was attended by some 20 representatives of various organisations involved in or responsible for play across the Borough. At that event it was agreed that the Gedling Play Partnership would be developed and the Partnership had it’s inaugural meeting in June 2006, since that time the Partnership has met on a regular basis to progress the Play Strategy entitled ‘Making Play Matter in Gedling'

In March 2007 the Gedling Play Partnership submitted a bid to the Big Lottery Funds (BLF) Children's Play Programme seeking funding to deliver a portfolio of projects to improve play opportunities across the Borough. BLF awarded the Gedling area with a grant of £219,586, to fund all four projects submitted in the portfolio.

The portfolio consists of four projects developed by members of the play partnership. Three of the projects involve the expansion and refurbishment of outdoor play spaces within the Borough, the fourth project will provide outreach play workers to deliver a range of quality, inclusive, supervised play opportunities in community settings.

‘Friends of Arnot Hill Park

Gedling Borough Council is seeking to increase community involvement from users and residents who are interested in joining the ‘Friends of Arnot Hill Park’.

This is an ideal opportunity for members of the community to take part in and make a real difference in shaping the development and future of Arnot Hill Park. The Friends of Arnot Hill Group will work with Members and Officers of Gedling Borough Council and be involved in a wide range of activities and initiatives of their choice.

Gedling Leisure Card - when did you get yours?

Leisure Card

Do you need to renew your Gedling Leisure Card? Simply pick up a new Gedling Leisure Card renewal form, these are available from any Leisure Centre, the Civic Centre, Arnot Hill House or, alternatively, download the application form and complete your details including name, date of birth and Leisure Card number, together with your signature.  If any of your details have changed, however, since you first became a Gedling Leisure Card Holder, please renew on a Gedling Leisure Card application form.
