Gedling Play Day

Last year’s Gedling Play Day saw 6,000 children and families enjoy an afternoon of music, laughter and activities at Arnot Hill Park.Chinese craft event

The three-hour event saw Arnold’s own dance troupe The Pop Divas get the crowd on their feet, as well as children enjoying a range of activities including arts and crafts, circus skills and sports taster activities.

The slightly older children also had chance to show off their skills on the BMX and skateboarding ramps.

We will soon begin planning for the 2010 Gedling Play Day, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11 August 2010.

Carlton Play Day

The rain and strong winds at last year’s Carlton Play Day did not deter over 500 youngsters enjoying a fun-packed afternoon of free play activities at the Richard Herrod Centre playing fields.

The Gedling Play Forum provided nine different undercover, table-top activities as well as rocket making and firing against the blustery winds.

Extreme Wheels also provided BMX taster sessions that offered a variety of ramps from the very simple ‘up and over’ to the ‘high riser twister’, with local BMX enthusiasts taking centre stage to show off their skills.

A junior crazy golf course was also provided as youngsters went head-to-head against their parents and grandparents, with some grown ups also accepting the challenge of completing Nottinghamshire County Council Play Development Team’s space hopper course.

We will soon begin planning for the 2010 Carlton Play Day, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 2 June 2010.

Gedling Play Partnership

Made up of representatives from the private, public and voluntary sectors, the Gedling Play Partnership was formed in 2007 to look at local play provision and drive forward the new Play strategy for the borough.
