Positive Moves is a partnership initiative funded by Gedling PCT and Gedling Borough Council Leisure Services. The scheme aims to reduce health inequalities within Gedling and improve patients’ health and well-being by providing opportunities to participate in a variety of physical activities via a GP referral pathway.
Positive Moves allows people with medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure to be more physically active and to do so in a safe environment with qualified staff. To date over 1100 patients have been referred to the scheme and have found enjoyment in taking part, being active and helping improve their condition.
2004 saw Positive Moves recognised by Trent Strategic Health Authorities at the 'Trent Celebrating Success Awards'. The regional awards ceremony acknowledged the achievements of Positive Moves in awarding the scheme a certificate.
