The access changing room has been recently developed and now includes a shower bed and chair, the installation of a shower, new sink and toilet and new flooring, tiling, ceilings and lighting. A new pool hoist also allows improved access into both of the centre's swimming pools. The development will provide one of the best disabled changing facilities in Nottinghamshire. The works were funded and undertaken by Gedling Borough Council and Notts County Council.
The two pools at Arnold Leisure Centre were temporarily closed from October to December 2006 for major maintenance work. The works included pool basin and edging retiling, new/ replacement air handling units and valve/ pipe work replacement. This £150,000 investment improved the pool floor surface with new tiles and a new Dolphin Design on the bottom of the Small Pool floor. New Air Handling Units have improved the atmosphere in the pool hall and changing rooms.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact the Operations Manager on 0115 9670114 email arnold@gedling.gov.uk
Both pools at Arnold Leisure Centre are dual disinfected using ultra-violet and a chlorine chemical system. The benefits of the UV disinfection system are that fewer chemicals are added to the water. These benefits are passed onto the customer by offering an odour free environment and the water is less likely to aggravate sensitive skin or skin conditions.
The 176 seat Bonington Theatre with retractable seating and adjoining bar lends itself to a wide range of activities such as plays, concerts, recitals, meetings, parties and more recently a cinema.
It is one of the best equipped theatres for its size in Nottinghamshire. It is well liked by both visiting and resident performers and attracts audiences from all over Nottinghamshire and beyond.
