Burntstump Country Park

Burntstump County Park’s open grassland, woodland and glades offer excellent woodland walks and the chance to observe native flora and fauna.

The park is also home to the Burntstump Inn, with other attractions including an ornamental pond and fenced cricket pitch.

Bestwood Country Park

Once the largest of the country’s medieval Royal Deer Parks, the Park’s expanses of grass and woodland provide a network of footpaths and bridleways for you to explore on foot, horseback or by mountain bike.

The impressive Bestwood Lodge Hotel occupies the site of earlier Royal residences, with the park’s campsite also available to hire for local youth groups and clubs.

Newstead Abbey

The former home of the poet Lord Byron stands in magnificent parkland with furniture, art and memorabilia connected with the poet and the Abbey’s other former owners.

Open all year round apart from the last Friday in November, the Abbey’s grounds and gardens offer stunning lakes, waterfalls, water features and beautiful formal gardens, including the Japanese and Great Gardens.

Colwick Country Park

Colwick Park offers a range of activities for the public and includes picnic areas, a nature reserve, horse trails and woodland and riverside walks.
