Sure Start Developments

Sure Start is a national Government initiative that aims to shape and improve local services for parents-to-be and families with children under 4.

Sure Start Services provide:

• Outreach and home visiting
• Support for families and children
• Access to good quality play, learning and chidcare experiences for children
• Primary health care including advice about child health and development.
• Support for children and families with special needs, including access to specialised services.

The Gedling Sure Start Programme

The Gedling Sure Start Programme delivers services in Oxclose, Killisick and Netherfield, with the newest base to be situated in the newly refurbished Killisick Community Centre,

Creating a new partnership, the Sure Start development programme will be operated by Gedling PCT.

With an investment of £200,000 for the refurbishment and development of Killisick Community Centre, Sure Start will enhance their service and provision with the new additions of:

• A toy library service
• Play group and toddler group services
• Advice / support services aimed at promoting health, social and emotional well being for young children and their families.

The Sure Start development will provide a significant improvement to the facility and will provide targeted services to the residents of the Killisick area.
