The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities are working together to promote awareness of stress in the workplace. According to an HSE sponsored labour force survey in 2001-2002 stress related problems are the most commonly reported cause of occupational ill health. It is estimated that 13.5 million working days are lost each year.
The HSE has accordingly produced two informative leaflets that can be downloaded from the two links below, or from the HSE's own web site.
Please download the leaflet, "Work related stress" INDG 281 which helps answer common questions about work-related stress.
You can download the HSE leaflet , "Tackling work-related stress" INDG 341which is a manager's guide to improving and maintaining employee health and well-being.
More information on workplace related stress can be found on the HSE website at http://www.hse.gov.uk/stress/.
