The Licensing Office within the Section deals with the administration of many types of licence including private hire vehicles and hackney carriage licences; licences under the Licensing Act 2003; for pet shops; animal breeding and boarding establishments; massage or special treatment premises and riding establishments. Caravan sites licensed within the area are inspected against their site licence conditions.
The registration and inspection of some skin piercing activities required by law are carried out (for tattooing, acupuncture, ear piercing and electrolysis).
Application forms and applicable guidance can either be requested from our Licensing Office- our contact details are set out further down this page and many can now be be downloaded from the relevant licensing pages on this site. The fees aplicable to a licence or registration are shown on the respective web page.
The Licensing Office is open to receive applications during the following times (these mirror the opening hours of the Cash Office) to allow the making of any necessary payments with applications.
Monday to Thursday 9.00 AM to 4.45 PM
Friday 9.00 AM to 4.15 PM
Please note that in late April 2008 the Licensing Reception will be closed and all licensing enquiries and applications should be made through the One Stop Customer desk.

The provisions of the Licensing Act 2003 came into force on the 24th November and both the local Police and authorised officers from Gedling Borough Council will be enforcing their aspects of new law. Our Licensing Office can be contacted (please see the botom of this page for our full contact details) over related queries or problems arising.
Gedling Borough Council completed its consultation over the new Licensing Policy Statement for 2008-2011 in mid November and the amended policy statement was adopted by Full Council at its meeting on the 12th of December 2007. You can obtain a copy of the new statement from our Licensing Policy page or request a copy from our Licensing Office (see below for full contact details).
The DCMS has released the TEN form to be used to notify local authorities of temorary events. You can download a TEN form here (pdf document size 287 KB), or you can contact our Licensing Office for a copy (our contact details are at the foot of this page). Applications for a TEN cost £21.

Another of the responsible authorities locally the Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire Authority have produced two licensing guidance documents -guidance for applicants and guidance for responsible persons. Both the pdf format documents may be viewed and downloaded off their website found at http://www.notts-fire.gov.uk (external link).
