Before a licence is granted or renewed, we require all horses and premises to be inspected by a suitably qualified veterinary surgeon. We also need to be confident that the licensee is a competent person to run such an establishment.
We have a set of standard conditions relating to riding establishments, with the following matters taken into consideration before we decide to grant a license:

Licenses last for one year and must be renewed on an annual basis, with existing licensees sent an application form two months prior to renewal by our Licensing Office.
Our Licensing section will also investigate all complaints involving riding establishments and reported accidents.
Fees for licences are reviewed annually, with the current fee for 2009/10 unchanged at £110.00, excluding vets fees.
