Historically the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1982 allowed for the licensing of places of public entertainment by local authorities. However the Licensing Act 2003 has now superceeded this legislation and from the 24th November 2005 requires that certain licensable activities either have a premsies licence or for short duration events have a temporary event notice. Please see our other Licensing Act pages for further information.
