Under the Scrap Metal Dealers' Act 1964, we are responsible for the licensing of any individual or business dealing in scrap metal. Anyone conducting this kind of business must register with our Licensing section.

The legislation enables the Police to visit scrap metal dealers for enforcement purposes.
We keep a register of all scrap metal dealers in the borough, with this document available for inspection by contacting our Licensing section using the details provided above.
Individual dealers will also keep records of their own scrap metal transactions.
