Work is beginning on the 2010 Review of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment. For sites to be included in the 2010 Review we need to receive the submission forms by 19th July 2010 at the latest. See the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment page for more details.
Our activities in the preparation of Planning Policy is explained in the Replacement Local Plan and Local Development Framework documents.
Adopted in 2005
As a result of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, policies in the adopted Gedling Borough Replacement Local Plan were due to ‘be deleted’ on 12th July 2008, being 3 years after the date of adoption of the Plan. In order for the Borough Council to retain policies beyond this date, agreement needed to be sought from the Secretary of State to issue a direction to ‘save’ them. The Borough Council submitted a list of policies, and their intentions for them, to Government Offices in January 2008.............. See Saved/Deleted Policies

This new system offers the opportunity for residents and stakeholders to offer their views on a series of documents that, altogether, form a framework for spatial development in the Borough.
The Local Development Framework will eventually supersede the Replacement Local Plan. For more information, please visit our Local Development Framework page.
An Annual Monitoring Report is produced in December each year. The document sets out information on a range of issues from housing to employment development, allowing us to monitor progress on key aspects of Gedling’s development.
Please visit our Local Development Framework pages for more information.
We produce Development Briefs for major housing sites that set out our expectations for development, as well as outlining issues we expect developers to take into consideration when submitting planning applications. Please see our Development Brief page for more information.
Our ongoing programme of consultative Conservation Area Appraisals ensures that we protect those historic areas that our residents value. We also address issues relating to Listed Buildings. For more information, please see our Historic Environment Conservation Areas and Listed/Local Interest Buildings page.
