Our Dog Warden Service respond to, investigate and resolve complaints and enquiries relating to stray dogs and dog fouling. They also have the power to enforce relevant legislation when necessary. We do not operate a dog registration scheme.

We have just over 500 dog bins in the borough. It is an offence for dog owners to allow their dogs to foul and not clean it away, and if caught we could serve you with a £50 fixed penalty notice. If you notice somebody allowing their dog to foul and not clearing it away then please contact us with the details at the top of the page.
The Police are responsible for enforcing statutory restrictions under the Dangerous Dogs Act, with more information available on the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs website. (External site)
We have a duty to seize any dog found unaccompanied in a public place or on private property where it has not been invited. We also have to provide a somewhere for dogs to be brought to out of normal working hours
If you find a stray dog in normal working hours, Monday to Friday 8.45 to 4.30, please contact the Neighbourhood Wardens on 0115 901 3972 who will arrange to collect it from you.
If you find a stray dog at any other time please call 07504 033415 and you will be given details of the location of where to drop the dog to. You should note that we will not collect the dog from you and you must be prepared to travel up to 11 Miles from the Arnold area with the dog to where it needs to be dropped off.
Neighbourhood Wardens will make all reasonable attempts to reunite stray dogs with its owner if it is wearing a collar and tag, or is micro chipped. Any dog found straying will be kennelled for seven full days in which time the owner may claim the dog. The dog owner will be liable for any costs incurred, please see the list below:
