Noise Control
If you would like to make a domestic noise complaint, that is not about a house or car alarm, please contact us on 0115 901 3972 or email environmentalhealth@gedling.gov.uk.
What do we do?
- Once a complaint has been received and recorded an officer will contact you and the alleged offender within two working days to offer advice and explain the investigation process.
- If you are making the complaint you will be given an observation sheet to record and monitor the problem.
- After three weeks an officer will contact you to request the observation sheet in order to assess the problem.
- If it is regarded as a problem we will write to the alleged offender to advise them the investigation is continuing.
- Up to three observations will be carried out either by an officer or by using a Digital Audio Tape (DAT) recorder system.
- If a noise nuisance is confirmed the officer will serve a noise abatement notice on the alleged offender and legal proceedings may follow if they don't comply with the notice.
- If a noise nuisance isn't confirmed or if the officer decides the noise does not constitute a nuisance, no further action will be taken, and we will offer you advice on what further options may be available to you.
