Jigsaw swim

A new scheme has launched in September 2021, in partnership with Jigsaw Homes Midlands, offering an initial 62 of their primary school aged tenants discounted swimming lessons. For just £2 per lesson they can access our swimming lessons, where we will take them from being a beginner swimmer to Stage 3 of the Swim England pathway, where they will be able to swim 25m unaided on both their front and back, meeting the Swim England requirements to be able to swim.

We also run disability lessons for those ages too, where we will take them to the best of their ability over a maximum of 30 months, if they are unable to complete the 25m front and 25m back unaided swims.

In partnership with Zoggs, we are delighted to also be able to offer a pair of goggles and a swimming costume/trunks for each child participating in the Jigsaw Homes Midlands discounted lessons schem. Please ask at the reception desk.

To join, please visit the Arnold, Calverton or Carlton Forum leisure centre, with the following details:

- Your Jigsaw tenant number

- Parent/Guardian's first name and surname

- Learner(s) first name and surname

- Jigsaw home address

- Any additional needs of learner

Terms and conditions

As well as the terms and conditions listed below, our general terms and conditions for swimming lessons also apply, which can be found on our swimming lessons terms and conditions webpage.

  1. Jigsaw tenants must provide a letter with a Jigsaw number, tenant’s name and address to confirm the place and eligibility for the scheme.
  2. Data will be shared between Jigsaw and Gedling Leisure to confirm eligibility on the scheme and to track the progress of the scheme.
  3. The lessons will cost £2 per lesson, which will be paid for a week in advance of the lesson. Pre-paid credits can be purchased in advance for 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, 7 weeks or 8 weeks and alerts will be set up on CoursePro to remind the user that their credits are running out.
  4. The first payment will be £4 per child to cover the first 2 lessons. Additional credits for lessons can be purchased if the parent/guardian wishes at any point (as above).
  5. If there is no attendance after 3 consecutive lessons without an explained absence, or the leisure centre being notified, then the learner will be removed from the lesson and the programme.
  6. The programme is available to 62 learners initially. If there is an instance where a learner leaves the scheme early or where completion of the scheme is early, we will review the budget spent at the end of the 62 learners to see if we can fund additional learners. We will work out what remains of the budget from Jigsaw and use this to provide lessons or crash courses depending on the amount remaining within the budget.
  7. Places are based on a first come, first served basis and learners can be added to a waiting list, no priority will be given to either Gedling Customers or Jigsaw applicants. Learners on swimming lesson waiting lists will be called once places are available on lessons.
  8. Disability lessons can be accessed by anyone of primary school age for up to 30 months if the learners’ disability prevents the completion of the 25m swim on front unaided and 25m on back unaided.
  9. The maximum amount of time we can allow anyone to remain on the programme will be 30 months, to complete the 25m swim and/or stage 3.
  10. By signing up to the lessons you are also agreeing to our general terms and conditions for swimming lessons, which can be found on our swimming lessons terms and conditions webpage.
