Arts Awards
The Bonington Theatre is now an official Arts Award Welcome centre.
Arts Award is a nationally recognised scheme that supports young people aged from 11 to 25 to develop as artists and art leaders.
Administered by the Arts Council and Trinity Guildhall, Arts Award is offered at three levels – bronze, silver and gold. At all levels young people have the opportunity to directly engage with the world of arts and to develop their own artistic and communication skills.
As an Arts Award Welcome centre the Bonington Theatre can now assist young people and their advisors on achieving their arts potential.
As an Arts Award student you may want to consider the following areas where the Bonington can help you:
- Taking Part – Become a member of the ‘Friends of the Bonington Theatre’ and have a say in the programming and marketing of the theatre
- Enjoying and Appreciating – We have discounted tickets to those taking part in an Art Award. Young people can also write reviews for productions, and have the opportunity to get these published online or in our theatre brochure
- Volunteering or Work Placement - We can offer you opportunities for work experience within the theatre for lighting and sound, front of house, backstage and stage management positions. There are also opportunities available for you to work with the Borough’s Arts Development Officer.
- Meeting Arts Professionals - We can arrange for you to meet some of the touring bands and productions who can share some of their expertise and experiences with you. There are also opportunities to pop in to the theatre and have a chat with members of our team who will be more than happy to give you a first-hand account of working in theatre.
- Showcasing your Work – Arts Award students are able to use our theatre/cinema space to stage productions, or show a film of their work. We also have space available for exhibitions.
