Gedling borough is home to a wide of range of voluntary and community arts organisations, from brass bands in Newstead to photographic societies in Arnold and choirs in Carlton. If you’re interested in joining a local art group this page will give you an idea of some of the things on offer.

Lace City Singers
Nottinghamshire’s only barbershop chorus for women meets every Wednesday evening at the Wheldon School and Sports College.
Carlton Male Voice Choir
The 90-strong choir celebrated their centenary in 2008 and hold rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at the Gedling Methodist Church.
Magdala Opera Trust
Magdala is a unique community music organisation that allows people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to discover their creative and vocal talents through the power of opera.
Bestwood Welfare Black Diamonds Brass Band
The band are a community based band who play concerts and contests in the local area and beyond.
The group meet at Bestwood Village Community Centre in Bestwood Village. The main band meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8pm till 10pm and the training band meet on Thursdays 6.45pm till 7.45pm. For more information contact Richard Greenwood on 0115 8447644.
Newstead Welfare Band
The band provides opportunities for brass and percussion players from across the North-East Midlands to rehearse and perform together to improve their musical abilities and entertain the community.
Carlton Brass
Carlton Brass is a local community brass band that promotes and encourages live music in Nottinghamshire. The band rehearse on Mondays and Fridays.
Reason Dance
Ballet, Tap and Modern classes for all ages on Saturday mornings at Ponds Hill Lane Community Centre.

Bonington Players
The Bonington Players rehearse at the Old People’s Welfare Centre in Arnold, as well as performing regularly at the Bonington Theatre.
Prospect Players
The Prospect Players amateur dramatics group hold regular rehearsals at the Pond Hills Lane Community Centre and perform regularly at the Bonington Theatre.
Burton Joyce Players
The first production staged by the Burton Joyce Players was in 1927 and the current group has been in existence since 1950. The group stages three productions a year with a pantomime in January, and further shows in April and October. The group also holds social evenings through the year for members and guests at Burton
Arnold and District Camera Club
The club aims to promote photographic interest in the borough, as well as providing a place for local enthusiasts to meet, exchange ideas and share their experiences.
The group meets on Mondays and Thursdays at the Pond Hills Lane Community Centre.
Arnold Art Society
Members of the society enjoy a full programme of activities throughout the year and meet on a regular basis at Pond Hills Lane Community Centre.
The Society hosts practical sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as on Wednesday evenings.
Mapperley Artists
Regular arts sessions on Wednesday mornings, 9.30am-12.30pm and Thursday afternoons, 1.30-4pm at Haywood Road Community Association.
