The Free Access for National Sports people (FANS) scheme offers free fitness, swimming and exercise classes for Gedling residents who represent their country in any Sport England-recognised sport.

The scheme aims to reduce training costs for the borough’s elite sportspeople by offering free, unlimited access to individual pay-and-play activities at all Gedling Borough Council-owned leisure centres.

To make an application, please return the FANS Scheme Application Form along with an official letter from your sport’s National Governing Body to confirm your membership on the national squad. To access FANS you need to have a Gedling Leisure Card.

Elite athlete training grants

Gedling Borough Council also offer athletes who are a member of national squads in a Sport England recognised sport, an annual training grant of up to £250, to help towards participation costs in national competitions that exceed the costs an ordinary club member would be expected to pay.

To be able to apply for the training grant you must hold a Gedling Leisure card.
