Swimming Lessons

Q: Do the leisure centres run private one to one swimming lessons?

Yes, these are available for both adults and juniors, and can be for 30 minutes or an hour. Simply book your session by contacting Arnold, Calverton or Carlton Forum Leisure Centres.

Q: How do I book my child onto the Swim Stars learn to swim programme?

We accept new children onto the Swim Stars programme at any time; you don’t need to wait for an enrolment week like some places. Simply contact the leisure centre and providing there is space on a class your child can start immediately.

Q: How can I track the progress of my child on the Swim Stars programme?

During each class the instructor will update your child’s progress on an iPod, and this will be immediately visible to view on the Home Portal.

Q: What is the Home Portal and how do I register for it?

The home portal is a web portal which gives parents access to their child’s progress during lessons. This means its easy to see what areas your child is doing well in and which areas they still need to improve on. It is also possible to move your child up to a new class (when they have completed the class) via the home portal, and shortly it will be possible to make payments through the home portal too. To register you will need to have your child’s Swim Stars membership number and set up a new account online. For this to work you must ensure that you have already given a receptionist your email address, your child’s date of birth and a postcode.

Online bookings

Q: Can I book an activity in advance?

Yes providing you have a Gedling Leisure Card. You can do this 7 days in advance by contacting reception or online.

Q: Do I need to pay at the time of booking an activity?

Yes, you will need to pay for exercise classes booked in advance, but this only applies to adults. All other activities that can be booked in advance you will pay for when you turn up to take part in your activity.

Q: If I pay for an exercise class online what do I do when I turn up to take part in it?

All you need to do is bring in your receipt (printed confirmation of booking) and show it to the instructor. You do not need to go to reception when you arrive.

Q: What if I forget my printed ticket or I don’t have a printer?

All you need to do is go to reception when you arrive for your class, and a receptionist will give you a new ticket. You must then give this to your class instructor.
